Movie Math - Due Date

Due Date = Planes, Trains, and Automobiles

The equation is simple on this one folks... a basic re-imagining of the old Steve Martin and John Candy flick but with a dog added for good measure. Heck, even the movie poster pictures on IMDB are similar! (see for yourself at the links above)

There's a chuckle in there at times but for the most part... meh. And what's the deal with Zach Galifianakis? Does he need to be in EVERY movie now?!! Someone hand him a razor and ask him to take a vacation.

Total = Definitely DVD material or better yet.. wait til you're forced to watch it cause the airline you're flying on isn't showing anything else.

Sequel = Let's hope not.

Movie Math - The Rite

OK, I know... It's been a LONG while since I've posted anything here. So it's 'bout time I made some Movie Math. Here it goes...


The Rite = The Exorcist + Training Day

"Sir" Anthony Hopkins is a veteran priest who performs exorcists on demon possessed Italians. The other actor (don't know what his name is) is a young priest in training, but not a priest in training cause he doesn't believe in God and is running away from his past. Will the grizzled vet teach him the way and get him believin' or get him killed in the process? blah blah blah

Total = Scary? No, not really. Worth your time? Not so much.

Sequel = Probably not.

Abby - Sleeping Teeth

Early this morning at a 8:45am appt, Abby had to have a tooth pulled on her lower front jaw. The permanent tooth had broken thru behind the baby tooth so the baby tooth had to come out. I had lunch with Cristina and Abby afterward. Abby was unable to speak from the Novocaine and was drooling a bit. Poor girl couldn't even eat any of the chocolate ice cream we got her. Later this evening, Abby told me...

"After the doctor put my tooth to sleep, my lip felt like it had a bubble in it."

Ah yes, the effects of Novocaine. We've all been there.

Country Music Band Name

Random thought... a great name for a Country Music band...

The Huntsville Hitchhikers

I hate Country Music so why I thought of a name for one is beyond me. If you live in Texas you'll know that Huntsville is located between Houston and the DFW area. It's the site of the state prison. As you drive by it on the Interstate you'll notice signs reading "Don't Pickup Hitchhikers" since they could be escaped prisoners. That why the name works so well. It's got a Texas insider thing going for it and refers to outlaws... a popular theme in some Country Music.

Sorry you didn't think of it first Simon Cowell.

Abby - My Brain is Getting Mad !!!

My impatient daughter told me today...

"Hurry up Daddy!! You're making my brain mad!!!"

And you won't like it when her brain gets angry.

Lightning Pics at last

No matter how hard I try I can never seem to get the really cool lightning pictures you see the pros get. A line of thunderstorms from an approaching cold front brought lightning to the DFW area Monday evening, 9/21/2009. These are the best pictures I was able to take from our bedroom window using an older Nikon D70s set to fast action mode, manual focus.

Probably my favorite for the simple fact that it's crisp, well lit, and framed pretty well...


Kinda weak. Maybe a little Photoshop would help it...


Should have been aiming more towards the East...


The blurriness was caused by rain on the window glass...


A nice HUGE bolt. Cool little ball of lightning thing on the right side there...

Washer and Dryer

Whoo-Hoo! Got a modern washer and dryer for a steal. The old washer was developing a slow leak. Glad it's out of our house!
